CALVARY EPISCOPAL CHURCH
where all are healed, transformed and empowered to serve God.
A NOTE FROM JON SPINILLO-GRZYWA, OUR SEMINARY INTERN

Brothers and Sisters,

Happy May Day! It is difficult to believe that May is indeed already here, with summer soon around the corner.  The academic program year is drawing to a close along with what has been a wonderful experience at Calvary.  I am extremely grateful to all of you for opening up your house of faith (and your homes!) to Kharmene, Miles, and myself during this time of internship.  I have learned more than I could have hoped for during my short tenure here and I hope to continue that learning with you in the future.  My last Sunday and sermon at Calvary as your seminary intern will be May 7.  Bishop Brian has approved my ordination to the transitional diaconate and has set the ordination date for Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 7pm at St. Mark's Cathedral in Minneapolis.  You are all welcome to come to the liturgy and meet my fellow priests-in-training who will also be ordained to the transitional diaconate along with me.  I will be spending the summer months continuing my chaplaincy training at Mayo Mankato, visiting different faith communities in our mission area, and missing the little brick church downtown.  Fortunately, my family and I only live .8 miles from Calvary so I'm sure to "be around."  I am always up for a get-together so do feel free to reach out.  I hope to continue walking with you during my deacon year and will keep you updated with news on that front.

Thank you so much, Calvary.  You have been and continue to be a truly vital part of my formation journey.  You are a blessing in my life and the life of my family.  Please hold us in your prayers.

Yours in Christ, with Love,

Jon
