St. Cuthbert spread the Gospel through Scotland and northern England in the 7th century, starting his ministry in Melrose in 650 AD. He later became Prior and eventually Bishop of Lindisfarne (Holy Island) where he died in 696 AD.This pilgrimage walk begins in Melrose and ends 62 miles later at Lindisfarne, an island off the east coast of Scotland. This is a walking pilgrimage of moderate difficulty. The commitment is 9 days and 8 nights, with a possible addition of a couple of days/nights at Durham Cathedral at the end.
