Beloved in Christ:

For the past almost 18 months, Calvary’s music program and the Motet Choir have been led by interim staff. Each of them has brought their own gifts and talents, faith and style to our community. For the past nine of those months, our brother parishioner Jeff Daehn has held the position of Interim Director of Music, and we are now at the end of his tenure. Pentecost, May 28, will be Jeff’s last Sunday behind the organ, at least in this staffing iteration.

We will be celebrating Jeff this coming Sunday at 9:15, during a very special coffee hour. He will need to go to be with the choir at 10:00 am, so come early (or stay after the 8:30 service), to give thanks for Jeff’s enormous gifts, not the least of which has been the gift of his time in teaching, rehearsing, mentoring, and directing.  Jeff is technically retired, and he is ready to return to that status, becoming a “regular” member of the Motet Choir along with his wife, Dawn, once again.

Jeff has become an integral part of our staff this year, offering his gentle, wise presence, his humor, and his vast experience and knowledge of liturgy and all things church. We will miss him, but are looking forward to seeing him rested and renewed and ready to sing again!

With deep gratitude,

Beth+
