Beginning today, we will have an area in The Visitor for construction updates, as needed. Please check the Visitor weekly to see what’s going on with Mayo’s expansion project and how things are moving along downtown.
Here is an update for the week of October 7 from the Calvary Team:
- Cleaned out undercroft
- Removed fire sprinklers in the undercroft to prevent accidental discharge during construction. (Approved by fire marshall)
- Replaced undercroft smoke alarms with heat sensors per fire marshall.
- Installed vibration and noise monitors.
- Removed and stored nave A/C condenser units to protect during construction
- Removed west-side decorative railings and associated brickwork for protection and restoration during construction. These will be re-installed after the foundation project is completed.)
- De-energized and wrapped nave furnaces and ERV units to protect during construction.
- Closed 4th Avenue sidewalk.
- Wrapped west nave exterior walls to prevent construction damage.
- Delivered and set up construction equipment and supplies to prep for foundation construction work.
- Held joint review with Mayo’s construction managers and contractors of the noise and vibration monitoring plans for Calvary’s foundation reinforcement project and Mayo’s Ozmun demolition project.
- Began removal of west-side plantings and irrigation system. These will be restored after construction work is completed.
