PARKING CHANGES AROUND CALVARY COMING SOON
On Monday, April 21, the parking situation on the west side of Calvary will change. Once again, the west side of the church will be accessible from 4th Avenue going south and will no longer be accessible from 2nd Street. The construction work will move back to the south side, and the north side will open up as it was several months ago. However, there will be very little parking there – the spaces open will only be along Calvary’s “drop off” area as it was for many years prior to the Mayo Unbound project. The city engineer will not permit any parking along the “street” part of 4th Avenue that still exists.
Calvary staff and volunteers can still park in the formerly metered spots on our block of 3rd Avenue. Anyone may park there after 5:00 pm or on the weekends, but from Monday – Friday until 5 pm, cars parked there must have the city-issued parking permit visible in the windshield.  If you have a permit now, you must get a new permit from the office after April 17. Because parking will be more limited, we might have to use a permit-sharing option of “checking out” a permit and returning it to the office when your tasks are finished.
Of interest, please also note that construction beginning on 2nd Street at Broadway and moving west block by block over time will force cthe losure of lanes along that busy route beginning on April 21 as well. Sunday mornings should not be too much of an issue, but if you need to come through this area on a weekday, note that an already busy downtown construction zone will be even more challenging for a while.
Thank you for your continued patience and sense of humor as we continue to navigate the construction part of Bold. Forward. Unbound. together!
