This week: A guest post from the Faithful Innovation team.

What might God be up to?
What might be God saying to us?
How do we sense God in our daily lives?

As members of the Calvary Faithful Innovation team, we are discovering what it means to be asking “God questions” not “church questions”. As we learn to listen to each other, we also increase our capacity to hear what God might be saying to us. Sometimes we are more aware of God’s presence than at other times. Seeking opportunities to listen, both to our own stories and those of others, allows us to better hear God.

By exploring “God questions” over the past several months through prayer, conversation, and the study of scripture, we have begun to wonder specifically what God is up to in our neighborhood. By stepping away from the physical property of Calvary, we can begin to trace God’s movement in our neighborhood and in the lives of those who dwell there.

Our upcoming walk will allow us to listen and learn together. By being present and observant, we will be more open to hearing and seeing God at work around the Calvary neighborhood. We will be afforded an opportunity to see what is (and isn’t) happening on a Sunday morning in the blocks surrounding our church.

In addition to our upcoming Faithful Innovation walk, you might consider a walk in your own neighborhood. As you walk, begin to ask yourself the “God questions” posed above.

Even if you are unable to participate in the upcoming Faith Innovation opportunities, we encourage you to do one thing: listenListen to what God is up to around you.

Your Calvary Faithful Innovation Team,

David Reiman, Colleen Spillers, and Colleen Timimi

WALK
Sunday, October 9 from 9:15 to 10:15

Meet in Brackenridge and grab a to-go coffee (we will supply cups with lids) and join us for a walk around our neighborhood. The walk will last approximately 25 minutes. For those unable to walk, we invite you to gather in Feith Family Park (adjacent to the Calvary building with the Mayo statues) for observations and reflections about our neighborhood. During our walk, we invite you to take pictures and/or video and make observations about Calvary’s neighborhood. We will then return to Brackenridge, where post-its will be available for you to share your thoughts on what you saw.
